Treeline Index is an editorial gear review site covering ultralight hiking gear and techwear-adjacent outdoor gear under a single curatorial filter: gear that earns its place in both a thru-hike and a city wardrobe.

What we cover

Comparisons, brand lineage essays, hand-authored example setups, and fabric / technology explainers. The brand list is global — Scandinavian, North American, Japanese — and skewed toward boutique and serious. No Decathlon-tier filler; no fashion-house collabs without real performance lineage.

What we don't cover

Pure-utility basics. Pure-fashion outdoor. Anything where the spec sheet doesn't justify the price, or where the price doesn't justify the field record.
